Tips for Keeping Your Home Clean & Tidy

March 1,2022

Cleaning, it's a dreadful chore for most of us. It can be tiring and frustrating, especially if you don't know how to and are just living by yourself. When the weekend comes, no one wants to spend their day cleaning up which is why we have created tips that will make cleaning a breeze.

  1. Keep a House Cleaning Schedule

It's important to keep a schedule, whether you like it or not. Without one, dirt can pile up and you end up spending more time cleaning a large than you would have if you took care of it weekly. Throwing away the trash, a quick sweep, or dusting, these small things can easily fit in your week and reduce the cleaning you have to do.

  1. Clean up when you cook

The last thing you want to do after having a meal is to clean the kitchen. A good solution is to clean as you cook. When you are finished with a bowl, wash it immediately. If you are waiting for the cooking to finish, you can quickly place away all the remaining ingredients and do a quick swipe of the countertops. This helps prevent insects and dirt from gathering.

  1. Do your laundry daily

A daily laundry habit is life changing. You can pop them in before you go to work or when you return. You can avoid laundry from piling up and always have clean clothes to wear. It's also easier to deal with one or two sets of clothes than it is with a whole pile.

  1. Have a place for everything

Get yourself designated spots for your stuff and force yourself into placing items in their spots. A place for your keys, shoes, cleaning equipment. Having everything in their selected place helps prevent messes and items from being all over the place.

  1. Wipe Sinks and Faucets

When you're in the bathroom, keep an eye out for hair and splatters of water, toothpaste, and others. You can quickly wipe it down with a rag, leaving you with a cleaner bathroom that will be easier to clean when the time comes.

  1. Use doormats to avoid soil and dirt

Doormats help limit the soil and dirt you track in. They also act as a barrier to prevent dust from entering through any gap below the door. Make sure to vacuum every now and then and sweeping your home will become a lot more easier.

  1. Clean up after yourself

It's way too tempting to leave stuff as they are. But cleaning up after yourself, whether it be snacks, a blanket on the couch, or empty bottles, getting rid of them immediately can be a lifesaver in the long run. If you live with roommates or your family, getting them into this habit will be immensely helpful.

  1. Set a kitchen routine

When it's the end of your day and you don't plan to return to the kitchen for the night, go through it once. Pick up any remaining food, take out your garbage, set aside appliances. Load your dishwasher before you leave. Nothing is better than starting a day with a clean kitchen.
